DIGNITY

At the Westdeutsches Protonen therapiezentrum Essen (WPE) we look to advance the efficiency of particle therapy while improving its accuracy. As these are competing goals, we turn to the new technology of the Oncolog Patlog patient loading and transport system to enable their combined fulfillment. This is because the Patlog system has the potential to reproduce the patient position more accurately for daily treatment, but also in an efficient manner. Over the past few months the first Patlog systems have been installed and tested in the WPE. The initial testing looks very positive. Currently Oncolog and the WPE are working closely together to optimize the system for clinical application.

The PatLog Concept

PatLog is all about throughput, safety, comfort, ergonomics and dignity.
The patient logistics system PatLog keeps several patients in the process simultaneously and the time in the treatment room is minimized for each patient which means that the diagnostic systems are fully utilized and the throughput is high.

The safety of the patient is taken care of by keeping the patient resting on one tabletop and docking it at different stations which eliminates the risk of falling between tables. For the patients comfort PatLog provide a tilting process which loads the patient as opposed to climb up on a narrow table.
Loading the patient also eliminates the strain on staff: no manually lifting or pulling is needed.
A motorized trolley makes the transport between stations easy, quick and safe.
The process of loading, tilting and docking in PatLog is a more dignified process for both patient and staff.
